International Museum of Women

Originally founded in 1985 as the Women's Heritage Center, the International Museum of Women is enjoying worldwide support as they make the transition from being a "museum without walls" to soon breaking ground to become a permanent part of the museum landscape of San Francisco. As they have progressed through this process, the IMOW has developed several major touring exhibitions.

Their most recent exhibit, Imagining Ourselves, opened at the United Nations as a preview before global tour in March 2006. The exhibit has now been viewed and highly acclaimed by over 6000 UN delegates and NGOs. The project creates a public platform in which young women leaders and creative thinkers articulate their view of the world they live in and the world they are passionately working to create.
